April is Alcohol Awareness Month!

Drinking too much alcohol can lead to health problems, including alcohol poisoning, hangovers, and an increased risk of heart disease. This April, during Alcohol Awareness Month, we   encourage you to take this time to educate yourself and your loved ones about the dangers of alcohol abuse. In Texas, 42 % of total traffic deaths are driving under the influence (DUI) - related.  To spread the word and prevent alcohol abuse, the Center for Addiction Research   is joining other organizations across the country to honor Alcohol Awareness Month to prevent alcohol abuse in our community. On Monday, April 30, 2012, we are pairing with the Bay Area Council on Drugs and Alcohol to provide information on alcohol use at Central Middle School in Galveston, TX at 11:00 am. During this event, addiction experts will be available to answer questions and will facilitate the use of our impaired driving simulator to highlight the dangers of drinking and driving from a first-person perspective.
